THE HOLTS SUMMIT POLICE DEPARTMENT
|
The Chief of Police
A Chief of Police, also known as
Police Chief or sometimes just Chief is the title given to the
Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the chain of command in a
police department. In contrast to a Sheriff, who is generally
elected by the voters of a county a Chief of Police is usually a
municipal employee who is appointed by the Mayor and the Board
of Aldermen. The Chief reports directly to the City
Administrator and has overall supervisory responsibility of the
Patrol section, the Investigative section, Clerical Support
section and the Reserve Patrol section.
