Acts as Patrol
Commander; determines personnel and equipment assignments;
reviews investigation and arrest reports, and determines
disposition requirements. Supervises and participates in the
work of personnel engaged in the investigation of crimes and
other offenses against persons and property; handles the more
difficult and sensitive situations; reviews investigation
reports. Supervises the work of personnel engaged in
communications and the preparation and maintenance of a variety
of police records and reports on an assigned shift. Acts as the
liaison between the department and the citizens of the
community, and takes complaints from citizens regarding the
actions and/or performance of department personnel.
Assists superior officer in developing and implementing new or
revised policies and procedures; interprets policies and
procedures to departmental employees. Acts as liaison between
the police department and automotive center in order to keep all
patrol cars in the best running condition at all times. Prepares
or directs the preparation and maintenance of necessary records
and reports. Seeks out Grant opportunities and prepares
documentation for grant applications for review and approval by
the Chief, the City Administrator, the Mayor and Board of
Aldermen. Performs all additional related work as
required.
