When should I call 9-1-1?
Whenever there is an
immediate threat to life, limb or property. If lives are in danger,
there are serious injuries, or a crime is in progress, do not
hesitate to dial 911.

Will the Police Department take a report over the phone?
It is the policy of
the Holts Summit Police Department to take reports in person. An
officer may respond to the location the incident occurred, to
your home if you live within the Town limits, or you may come in
to our station to make a report.

How do I get a copy of an
accident or case report? Our Front Desk is
open Monday - Friday from 8AM -5PM. You can come to the Police
Department to pick up a copy of a report. Please call ahead of
time so they can have it ready for you, please call (573)
896-4678 x7. You will be required to fill out the proper release
form to obtain a copy. There will also be a small nominal fee
for a copy of such report. You may pick up a copy of the report
at the Holts Summit Police Department at 245 S. Summit Dr. Holts
Summit, MO. 65043.

not an emergency- who do I call?
Any criminal or suspicious activities that
are not an emergency call the Holts Summit Police Department
Dispatch at
(573) 896-4911. Our dispatchers are on duty 24
hours a day, 7 days a week and will be able to assist you.

What Should I do if I have
been involved in a traffic accident?
If you are involved in an accident,
determine whether or not anyone is injured. If necessary,
contact the appropriate medical personnel as soon as possible.
For emergencies, call 911. If any unknown substances or liquids
are at the accident scene, keep away from them. They may be
hazardous or even lethal. For non-injury accidents call the
Holts Summit Police Department Dispatch at (573) 896-4911. -
Never move the vehicles if there are injuries to any of the
parties. Never let anyone talk you out of having an accident
report made. If you are unsure as to the proper procedures, call
the Holts Summit Police Department and wait until an officer
arrives on the scene to assist you. Keep all parties and
witnesses at the scene until the proper authorities arrive. You
may pick up a copy of your accident report after 10 working
days. This report can be picked up in person at 245 S. Summit

Complaint? To
report a noise complaint, please call your Holts Summit Police
Department Dispatch at (573) 896-4911.

Department have any volunteer programs? Reserve Officers are
an active and useful part of the Holts Summit Police Department.
A Reserve Officer is uniformed and a certified member of the
Department serving in a volunteer capacity.

♦ - Can the police open
my vehicle if I have locked my keys inside?
Because of the
potential for damage to vehicles, the police department does not
open locked vehicles. A locksmith as well as most tow companies
and taxi drivers will respond to your location and unlock your
vehicle for a fee. If a child is locked inside the vehicle, the
police will respond to remove the child from the vehicle.

What do I do if a wild
animal gets in my house?
If a wild animal
gets into your house, you will need to contact an animal removal
service as found in your local yellow pages.

harassing phone calls?
Local phone companies have different policies on whether to
call the phone company or the police first. The majority of
company's recommend that you first call their business
office and explain the problem. A representative will
connect you with the "annoyance desk." Other companies may
require you to file a formal complaint with local law
enforcement before they will deal with the matter. To find
out what your phone company's policy is, contact the
business office and ask for assistance.
-For serious threats, if life or
property are threatened call
9-1-1 immediately. If the calls are obscene,
you should call the police at (573) 896-4911
and file a report. Provide as much information to law
enforcement as you can. Indicate the gender of the caller
and describe the caller's voice. Note the time and date of
the call(s). What did the caller say? How old did he/she
sound? Did the caller seem intoxicated? Did he/she have an
accent or speech impediment? Was there any background noise?
Was a phone number/name displayed on the Caller ID device?
